Typography Posters

UC Berkeley - Graphic Design Program

Typography Posters Project:

This typography poster project celebrates three typefaces from broad type classifications by subtly incorporating the elements that signify their usage, the time periods in which they were used, and indicating major type characteristics in the form of anatomical references.

Design Process:

Typography and font design aren't just for content - It is all about delivering art and information in a beautiful medium. These 6 posters are a part of the same campaign. This beautifully modern typographic poster template comes with a design that’s most suitable for making a poster to promote your special events. The six kinds of typefaces displayed here are Baskerville, Bodoni, Optima, Didot, Garamond, and Futura in Transitional serif, Didone serif, Humanist sans serif, Modern serif, Old Style serif, Geometric san serif, categories respectively.

Baskerville, a 17th-century typeface was considered Transitional and is known for a display face rather than a text face.

Bodoni, a 17th-century typeface is a Didone serif and is known for a display face rather than a text face.

Optima, a 19th-century typeface is a Humanist san serif that feels like a serif typeface without the serif.

Didot, a 17th-century typeface is a Modern serif that takes inspiration from Baskerville typeface.

Garamond, a 16th-century typeface is an Old Style serif released by Adobe in 1989.

Futura, a 19th-century typeface was designed as a contribution to the New Frankfurt project.
